You’ve probably heard of a tea cozy or a toaster cozy before. Simply put, cozies are clothing for inanimate objects and things that aren’t people. And now there’s all sorts of them out there. Cell phone cozies, iPod cozies, coffee cup sleeve cozies and on and on.

What can I say? I’m a bit nutty about clothing made for fruit.
And to be honest, though a lot of these items are goofy and/or unnecessary, I have to admit that I find the majority to be utterly darling.

It is so cold here I probably ought to make some little sweaters for our apples!
These were a treat to see, though hard to believe! Although I do have a 60s craft book that gives directions for a cleanser-can cozy. In case the Comet gets a little chilly while it's sitting under the bathroom sink.
LOL, Comet cozy! I can imagine that it gets awful brisk under the cabinets of an igloo.
I feel an unnatural revulsion towards these cozies. Why do my keys need a hat? Why does an apple need a sweater? No. . .no. This won't do at all.
Oh my....TREE SWEATER? Still wiping my eyes at that one. It was so little, whats the point? Grenade Cozy? Please tell me that you made this stuff up and that it really isnt out there somewhere..pretty please?
My, we're a terribly crafty species aren't we? On the one hand, my inner Wilhelmina Slater recoils in horror; on the other, I have to admire the single minded dedication behind knitting (crocheting?) these things. And the apple cozy is pretty much tres cool. But, where's the pit bull cozy :o)?
Shawn: That's what makes them superfluous, no? And adorable!
Goo-Goo: They're all real. I will say, the grenade thing was some sort of artistic statement. I can't remember the whole story behind the tree sweater but just click on the embedded links and you can see where they all came from.
Moy: You WOULD like the apple one, heh. And now I'm just going to have to learn to crochet/knit/whatever so I can make a pibble cozy!
I must get me a teabag tote, but an apple cozy is going too far! Doesnt it make it difficult to eat? Abit woolly! LOL!
I know! I literally needed a teabag tote yesterday! I had to carry a lonely little teabag with me to my brother's house in order to have a spot o' tea. The indecency of it all! I had to carry it in my HAND. It was terrible.
Ms Cherry you are hilarious! X
Gracias, Kitty!
Love your blog, and especially this very funny post!
My Aunt was an avid cozy maker. When I was a teenager, she made me a hot pink notebook cozy edged in turquoise. It came with several matching bookmarks. After that, her gifts to me were opened with not a small amount of trepidation.
I don't believe that she ever got around to doing Comet couture, but I do recall our toilet paper rolls and nearly all of our small appliances being quite well dressed...
Thanks J/J! And toilet paper cozies?
*shudder*
